Nowy Świat 68

Nowy Świat 68 is a piece of real estate situated in the very center of Warsaw, by the intersection of the Nowy Świat and Świętokrzyska streets, directly next to the Trakt Królewski, which along with the overall historic preservation of the city and the Wilanów Palace, was named a historical landmark in 1994. The property is situated in a prestigious location, near the University of Warsaw, the Staszic Palace, the Grand Theater, and the National Museum. Transportation to the property is also very convenient as within meters of the property, a station of the new, second line of Warsaw's metro is being built, which will be opened in the final quarter of 2014.

Nowy Świat has long been one of the busiest streets in Warsaw. Besides palaces that belonged to the aristocracy, the street has always featured a plethora of stores and offices, tenement houses, and various services. In the past, this address gave home to the popular Jankowski bakery, in a wooden, single-story building, from the 18th century. During World War II, the location served primarily as a recruitment office for the Arbeitsamt, which featured a sign above its entrance that read “Come with us to Germany”. On April 25th 1942, Jan Bytnar, AKA “Rudy” - commander of the “Ochota” unit of the Polish Szare Szeregi Army, committed an act of great bravery and changed the sign to say “Go to Germany yourselves”. In 1944, the building got destroyed, and was later replaced with a two-story structure, which was perfectly aligned with the other reconstructed buildings surrounding it. The building, designed by Bogusław Szmidt, which is considered to be example of socialist realism in architecture, was built in just 54 days. It housed the National Radio Services Institute.
The current renovation efforts were carried out with the utmost care for historical accuracy and for the architectural facade, while the interior has been given a completely modern character. The building has been equipped with the newest technological solutions and facilities and it features an effective floor breakdown, while the open space area assures freedom of design on all floors. The combined area of the office/service building exceeds 5000m2 on 5 floors. The tenants of the above mentioned property are: McFit Polska Sp. z o.o. (a gym), Jeronimo Martins Polska S.A. (supermarket Biedronka) as well as McDonald’s Polska Sp. z o.o. (a fast food restaurant).
